Here is what I am up to……making a difference in people’s lives; helping them get healthy and realize they don’t have to be consistently tired and/or in pain; helping people lose weight and learn how to eat right; working on ending the obesity epidemic and lifestyle disease that comes with it in our country….and those are just the broad areas I am working on. I am also working on writing a book, teaching more nutrition seminars, sharing the fitness and nutrition that I use in my life with as many people as possible because I know what works!
Accountability. It’s has been proven that the more public you make your goals and aspirations, the more real they become and the more likely you are to stick with them. This is only one reason why I host fitness and accountability groups online every month! I want people to succeed in life! We all need to be held accountable; to ourselves, to our families, for our successes, for our mistakes and struggles, for our goals. To get ahead in life, we need to be held accountable.
You know the story: you wake up Monday morning ready to go to the gym, but you haven’t had your coffee and are feeling a little sluggish after the weekend. You decide to turn on your computer and do some work before going to get in your workout. No one is waiting for you anyways; it’s not a scheduled appointment on your calendar. You will go in a little bit……as the hours pass, you look at the clock and it’s 5:30PM. Never made it to the gym. No accountability to yourself.
Now, imagine this story with one anomaly; you are meeting a friend, or a trainer, or even better the new exercise accountability group you just joined. Now, the story plays out quite differently. Now you are accountable to the friend/trainer/ group AND yourself. You may be willing to let yourself down, but it is highly likely that you will let others down. You get to the gym, have an awesome workout, meet some new workout friends (surrounding yourself with like-minded people is huge :)) and are energized to make the most of your day and week ahead!
Statistics from the American Society of Training and Development say the probability of completing a goal if:
you hear an idea: 10%
decide when you will do it: 40%
plan how you will do it: 50%
commit to someone else you will do it: 65%
have a specific accountability appointment with the person you’ve committed to: 95%
Hold yourself accountable and make your goals public sharing with your friends and family; then go after them!
Have an amazing week!
