Burn Boot Camp Healthy Snack Recipes

by in Blog Posts, Food & Nutrition August 27, 2016

A super Saturday started with an athletic conditioning workout and the opportunity for me to share some nutrition tips on healthy snacks for our kids, as they head into another school year.

If you are on Facebook, you can view the video from this morning HERE.

We also discussed switching things up (not sticking to the same “Goldfish” snack), getting our kids to try new things, reading snack labels and addressed picky eater challenges.

We had about 20+ ladies join us for the seminar and snack sampling this morning.

As promised, here are the two recipes that we got to sample:

Almond Bars
1 cup raw almonds

1 1/4 cup dates

1/2 cup shredded coconut

1/2 tsp Himalayan Pink Salt (or Kosher salt)

1-2 tsp cocoa powder

2-3 tsp organic coconut oil (melted)

1 tsp vanilla extract

dark chocolate chips (optional)

Chop almonds in food processor. Add all other ingredients (besides chocolate chips) and blend together in food processor. Press into a baking dish. Sprinkle desired amount of chocolate chips on top and press down into bars. Let this deliciousness set in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Cut into bars and enjoy!!

No Bakes
2 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup all natural peanut butter

1/4 cup 100% pure maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

1 1/2 tbsp dark cacao powder

3 tbsp coconut oil

Combine peanut butter, syrup, vanilla, coconut oil, and dark chocolate chips in a small pan over medium heat. Stirring constantly until chips are melted. Remove  from heat and add cacao powder.
Add mixture to oats. Stir completely and roll into bite sized balls.
Chill for 30 minutes before eating. Enjoy!
