Dear Mom,
Dear Mom,
I thought about you today as I was sitting, having coffee with a friend. We were discussingĀ our community, church, Thanksgiving, our families, the weekend, nature……and of course nutrition, food, and cooking š
I think of you always throughout my each and every day. The ways you have been there for me, our simple conversations on the phone that I am so blessed to have, memories from growing up, the delicious meals that we have shared, etc. You are our mom who always has a lesson in a story. I can hear your voice loud and clear on occasion in my head,
“keep an eye onĀ who is around you”
“you need to slow down”
“you need to save”
“always keep extra supplies in your car”
“be aware”
“listen to your gut”
But you want to know the one piece of adviceĀ that has significantly shaped my life? The one lessonĀ that I live by and always remember? The one conversation of thousandsĀ that we have had about food that rings true – because we really are what we eat?
“Linds, even when times are tough, the necessities are family, clothing, food, and shelter. You always have family. You have clothes. Pay what bills you can and always spend the money on good quality food to feed your family.”
This Thanksgiving, I am so blessed to have an amazing mom who STILL finds a lesson in most conversations (even though I am almost 40!) Lol š I love you, mom.
Cheers to the weekend, everyone!
