Fall Baked Apples

by in Blog Posts, Food & Nutrition September 2, 2018

Core the apples…using firm apples such as Fuji, Gala

Mix together:

1/2-3/4 c. Nuts ( walnuts or pecans)

1/2 c. coconut

Diced ginger root (about 2″ long)

1/3-1/2 c. craisins

If you have a cereal like the KIND with flax seed, add about 1/2 c.

Cinnamon….do not be shy

Turbinado sugar (optional)…but mixed with the cinnamon, it is GOOD!

Powdered ginger

Add fresh VERMONT MAPLE SYRUP to make ingredients bind together.

Now, with the aid of a spoon and your fingers, pushed the ingredients into the center of the apples , and do so with apples in the baking dish.

Now add about 1/4″ of water to the bottom of the dish

Drizzle some additional maple syrup over the top of each apple, allowing it to overflow.

This gives you a little juice to spoon over the apples at the end of the cooking process.

Bake at 375 degrees for about 1hr 20min.  Check on them.  Just don’t let them turn to mush.

Served as is or with a little scoop of ice cream or a little cream ( whipped or plain)

You can experiment with other ingredients too.  Try, but don’t be shy
