Yes, I got a FitBit Charge HR for Christmas and I love it!

I have had many people question it, ask what I think of it or why I would even need/want one. Allow me to share with you…

We are living in a world FILLED with fitness resources, ways to live better, improve your health, find balance….the options are ENDLESS, the initiatives are abundant, but many of us do not take advantage??!

For those of you who do not know, the FitBit is a health tracking device. There are TONS of fitness trackers and apps out on the market, but I wanted one that was reliable and accurate, easy to use and not cumbersome; so I chose the FitBit.

There are 4 different kinds of FitBits with varying technologies. The system (the actual FitBit and FitBit app on your mobile device or computer) allows you to track biometrics each day; measuring steps, caloric intake and expenditure, sleep patterns, heart rate, miles walked and water intake. You can also find & follow friends for a little extra competition, motivation and accountability.  I chose to get the FitBit Charge HR because I wanted the ability to track my heart rate, sleep patterns and actually learn more about how much I was moving during the day.  Fitbit_Charge_Wearable-29

10,000 steps. You have heard that number before, I am sure. Did you know that 10,000 steps = 5 miles?
I quickly learned that I surely was not getting 10,000 steps in my day prior to the FitBit. There are many days, just like everyone else, that I get stuck at my desk – for hours!  And yes, I do set an alarm on my phone to get up and move, run up and down the stairs, do handstands and jumping jacks around the house, BUT I was not hitting that 10,000 step mark on most days.

Self Competition

Don’t compare yourself to others. Do it for you!

January 5, 2016 – Enter the FitBit and a little self competition and I have hit the 10,000 step mark every day except 3, since I started using it!

I do want to mention that the 10,000 step guide is not for everyone. For someone just beginning an exercise program, a lower number may be a better goal. For a young athlete or runner, a higher number may actually be best. It completely depends on the individual; BUT, as a whole, we all need to be moving more throughout the day.

AND here is the thing  – I have noticed a significant change in my body since I have been using this little self-motivating device!!  I am moving more so I am able to move better!!  The stiffness and soreness, hip and lower back tightness from SITTING is gone 🙂

Have you heard this one too?  “Sitting is the new smoking.”

CBN News tells us, “People who sit for a prolonged period of time throughout the day are predisposed to developing diabetes, and those people who have diabetes, their diabetes gets worse,” Levine warned.
Add to that increased blood pressure and more, including emotional problems.
“People who sit more are more prone to cancers, breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon, I mean, multiple cancers,”

So, whomever or whatever you use to get in more steps and MOVE MORE through your day, just do it! You will be glad you did!
