Lunch with a friend….

by in Food & Nutrition, Inspiration, & Motivation, Wellness January 17, 2014

I wound down an extremely busy week this afternoon by having lunch with a dear friend  at our typical meeting place; enjoying a grilled salmon salad, a crisp glass of chardonnay, great conversation and some much-needed “down” time.

Do you have that friend in your life who when you are together it is like a breath of fresh air? You can just be you. No pretenses. No judgment. No untruths. Just time to exhale and be…….

We meet about once every 3 months for lunch or dinner (always at our favorite place) to catch up on each others lives, families, news, and future plans. The hours that we spend together consist of non-stop talk; a run-on sentence between the two of us.

The one thing that comes up every single time is how we wish that we could “do this more often” or get our families together more often. But truth is that life is busy. We both have a long list of “to-do’s” that is never completed. It just is that way. Life. It is busy. But the other truth is, we both cherish these hours that we do take time to spend together.

As we talked at lunch today, words that she spoke stuck with me. “I want to spend time with people who nourish my soul,” she said. I love that. My thoughts exactly, my friend. And each time we are together, that is precisely how I feel.

I share this with you all because I agree and have learned the importance of spending time with people who support you and lift you up!

Life is too short to spend time with people who don’t nourish your soul…..people
