Name it and Do More of It
While we escaped the major wrath of Hurricane Irma, I am praying for friends, family, neighbors, and strangers effected in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. I woke up this morning feeling the Holy Spirit in me and extreme gratitude for things that we daily take for granted – a good night of sleep, feeling dry and warm, with a roof over my head, and a job to go to that I enjoy.
Begin each day with a gracious heart.
Stop yourself from complaint and focus on things you are thankful for. This takes some effort, but the effort is worth it. The way I try to live each day; it also happens to have been the topic of our sermon at church on Sunday; and I promise if you do this daily, it will change the course of your life.
So, today I am thankful for a job that I enjoy. One that allows me the opportunity to change and positively impact lives of others from all walks of life, who in turn teach me about life with each interaction. This career is a journey, it is a marathon, it exercises patience and reminds me of the power of perseverance.
With it comes time for balance; to be there for my family and practice other activities that bring me joy, including sharing in personal journeys of physical, mental, spiritual and emotional growth with people in my community and circles.
What brings joy into your life? What makes you smile?
Name it today and do more of it.
