Reading in 2012

by in Beachbody, Fitness, Inspiration, & Motivation, Wellness January 12, 2012

In my 30+ years, I don’t think I have ever started a new year like this JANUARY 2012. With the drive & determination, optimism, peace, gratitude, love for the meaningful people in my life, having a set of established goals for myself, and faith that this year is going to kick ass!  Most of this comes from life’s lessons over the past year and from the personal development books that I have had the privilege to read and learn from.

As I mentioned in one of my recent blogs – one of my goals this year is to read AT LEAST one personal development book a month.   One a month – a completely doable goal. My library of personal development has grown substantially over the past few years – each book contributing tidbits for life and motivating me to become better. We can always become better. Better at everything we do. Reading these books, I learn more and more about myself with each page, chapter, book, and series.  It’s exciting!  I can’t wait to read the next, meanwhile soaking up all of the information I can from my current selection.

So, this month I am reading Chalene Johnson’s new book, PUSH.

Are you really asking, who is Chalene Johnson??!!  She is a hot, blonde, 5’ 2” powerhouse! She is a wife, mother, motivator, and educator; who also happens to be the creator of the TurboJam and TurboFire workouts produced by Beachbody.   She is inspirational, a mentor, a successful entrepreneur and optimist.  She is someone I admire for many reasons, which is why  I have chosen this book to start off the year.

The word PUSH is defined as:

  • to press upon or against (a thing) with force in order to move it away.
  • to move (something) in a specified way by exerting force; shove; drive.
  • to effect or accomplish by thrusting obstacles aside.
  • to cause to extend or project; thrust.
  • to press or urge to some action or course.

“To effect or accomplish by thrusting obstacles aside.” Yep – that is what this book is about.  Making up your mind about what you want in life and thrusting/pushing ANY obstacle aside.  Anyone can do it; if they make up their mind to do it.  This book just helps you get life organized; aligning your goals and priorities by giving you the step by step processes for success.

PUSH contains the typical health/fitness recommended recipes, exercises, etc. BUT – this book additionally puts you through 30 days of turbo-charging your daily habits; making you more successful in ALL areas of your life.  Each day you read Chalene’s coaching tip and then do your homework.  Don’t worry; it’s no 10 page English essay!  It takes about 10-15 minutes. Easy to do, east not to do – but I am only on day 5 and am learning something new each day! So…..I am sticking with it!

Book #1 for the year – recommended read!
