Sugar-LESS Rules!
OCTOBER 8 – 14th SUGAR-LESS CHALLENGE RULES!
You are receiving the rules for this challenge because you are committed and have taken the honorary pledge to go for the next week without sugar! Feel free to share this with family & friends and get them to join you!!!
I, ________________ commit to eating a clean, healthy diet with no added sugar, refined sugar or sugar substitute for the week of October 8–14, 2012.
This is something you are doing for YOU! It is my hope that this week will make you more aware of the amount of added sugars, refined sugars and artificial sweeteners in our foods. Please keep in mind that if reducing the amount of sugar you eat on a regular basis is your goal, it takes a full 21 days to change a behavior of establish a new habit. Challenges like this one are usually much longer than one week.
Sugar is addicting. Just like alcohol. The more you eat, the more you want. The less you eat, the sweeter foods taste and the less you want.
YOU can do this. It is only 1 week. Commit to yourself.
Here are the rules for the week:
#1 – NO added sugar (yes folks, that means none in your coffee)
#2 – NO refined sugar. If a food item has more than 4g of sugar, do not eat it! (Watch for things you would not think of like bread, salad dressing, condiments, cereals, crackers). It is best to stay away from processed food and/or whatever your kids are snacking on.
#3 – NO artificial sweeteners. I could have written another entire blog on this! Some artificial sweeteners are 50X sweeter than sugar – causing your body to crave more sugar. Plus, MOST are chemicals. Stay away from things like acesulfame potassium (also called acesulfame K), aspartame, saccharin, sucralose, neotame. By the way – this means NO soda!
#4 – Sugars occur naturally in food – especially fruits and dairy. This is fine; it is a good general rule of thumb to keep fruit intake to 3 servings a day.
**I will be posting on my Fit Envy NC Training & Fitness page on Facebook and sending out daily “sugar-less” trivia and questions throughout the week next week!**
