Happy Health-Conscious Hump Day!! How are we doing, coffee (with no sugar) drinkers??

I am writing for my Sugar – LESS challengers today!  I LOVE the feedback and emails that I am getting from this!  Everyone is doing great, supporting each other and becoming more aware of ingredients and sugar content in their foods.

Question: do you crave something sweet at night? Dessert? Do you usually eat dessert every night? If so, what are you doing this week to suppress that craving and make a change?

Here are some quotes/tip for your reading pleasure this morning.

“I rank sugar’s dangerous effects up there with heroin and cocaine. All three are white powders, all give you a high and crushing low, all are highly addictive and all destroy. Sugar may be even more dangerous because it is legal and so we are not prepared for its disastrous effects!” ~Tosca Reno

“Processed sugar negatively affects your metabolism, your insulin response, even your mood—and all for totally empty calories. Cutting sugar out of your diet means you’re going to have to read some labels, because it is by far the most common food additive in the U.S>.” ~Tony Horton

One hundred and fifty-six pounds. That’s how much added sugar Americans consume each year. That’s not to say that we get most of the sugar in our diets directly from the sugar bowl. Only about 29 pounds of it comes as traditional sugar, or sucrose, according to The Sugar Association, a trade group of sugar manufacturers. The rest comes from foods.

Sugar promotes inflammation. Inflammation, which is part of the immune response, is not always a bad thing. But eating sugar foods can fuel excessive, inappropriate inflammation that serves no useful purpose and actually promotes aging and disease.

Keep up the great work, everyone!!
